Attention to Detail

Spelling, punctuation, typos - if you can’t get it right on your resume, you’re not likely to get it right on a design presentation to a client. This would also include grammar, writing ability, and the overall readability of your resume.

Creativity & visuals

A resume can tell an employer a lot before they even read through the details. Consider showing off some of your creativity in a thoughtful way on your resume to let your personality and your story shine.

Work skills

This is a no-brainer. But the way you portray your work experience on your resume is what is important. A concise and coherent story of your responsibilities, achievements, and any solid facts you can give that match the qualifications an employer is looking for are key.

extracirriculars & achievements

Tell more of your story through any volunteering, hobbies, academic achievements, awards, or other activities you do outside of work. These extracurriculars are a great talking point during interviews and show where your passions and priorities lie.

technical skills

As a student coming straight out of school, employers understand that you have a basic knowledge of design software and technical skills. As long as you’re familiar with these types of software and programs, the quality of your skills can be further determined in an interview or once you get hired.
